Review: Quaker Real Medleys Oatmeal

Back for another quick review!

I received a Quaker Real Medleys Peach Almond Oatmeal cup in my Influenster Holiday VoxBox 2012.

Here is the product information from Influenster.com:
"- The best oatmeal ever - made to-go
- Packed with wholesome multigrains and chunks of real fruits or nuts
- Portable single-serve cups

Quaker Real Medleys Oatmeal+ is simply the best oatmeal ever – and you can enjoy it on the go! Whole grain oats, rye, barley and wheat are mixed with large chunks of real fruit & nuts in a convenient single-serve cup. Just add hot water or microwave and you can have a delicious breakfast anytime, anywhere. Enjoy all four delicious flavors – Apple Walnut, Cherry Pistachio, Peach Almond and Summer Berry."

I love the packaging for this oatmeal. It is so sturdy and convenient. I really love that you can travel, prepare and cover it to save it for later, all in the same package.

The flavoring was pretty good. It was barely sweet which I prefer over overwhelmingly sweet, although I did add a bit of brown sugar for more taste.

What I did not like was that there were way too many nuts in this cup. A few mixed in would have been nice but I felt that it put the peaches and oatmeal on the back burner.

If you are someone who is on the go or someone who loves an abundance of nuts in their oatmeal, then this may be just what you are looking for!

Review: Goody QuikStyle Paddle Brush

Hey!

I received the Goody QuikStyle Paddle Brush in my Influenster Holiday VoxBox 2012. After having used it a few times, I am still on the fence about it!

Here is some product info from the Influenster website:
"The GOODY® QUIKSTYLE™ Paddle brush works like a towel and brush in one. The super absorbent (and antimicrobial) microfiber removes 30% of water from wet hair to help speed your drying time! You can effortlessly detangle right out of the shower and continue using it while you blow dry!"

When I first saw this brush, I was completely confused. It looks ridiculous! How can I brush my hair with something that has microfiber bristles in between the regular bristles?

The main function of this brush is to dry your hair faster by running this brush through your wet hair. I was surprised when I did notice that it dried my hair much faster than if I were to only towel dry my hair. I also was surprised that this brush is able to detangle my hair, even with the microfiber bristles included.

My main concerns with the Goody QuikStyle Paddle Brush were cleanliness and frizz. The packaging claims that the microfiber bristles are anti-bacterial and are easy to clean. I found this brush to be very easy to clean. I was able to pull away loose hair in the bristles very easily and the instructions on washing the brush are simple. In terms of my hair becoming frizzy, I notice that the texture of my hair is much softer after using this brush but I notice my hair appearing more frizzy on the top of my head. This could also be due to the high humidity the past few days.

Overall, I would say that the Goody Quikstyle Paddle Brush is more useful than gimmicky. If you are a person on the go and can't deal with hair dryers (we shouldn't use them anyway!) then this might just be the right brush for you.

Review: Barielle Total Foot Care Cream

Don't be alarmed! I WILL NOT BE SHOWING YOU MY FEET IN THIS POST!

Now that we have that all cleared up, today I will be reviewing Barielle's Total Foot Care Cream (4 fl oz. Retail Value: $19.50 US). Everyone who knows me in "real life" knows I have crusty ass feet lmao. Seriously though, the heels of my feet get super dry and no matter how many times I scrub and apply lotion, nothing every works.

The box reads:
"Total Foot Care Cream for Callused, Chapped Feet - An award winning, luxurious, conditioning formula that softens and helps to eliminate calluses while moisturizing chapped areas of the feet. Contains no harsh peeling ingredients, acids or camphors, so it will not irritate the sensitive areas of your skin. Leaves your entire foot feeling soft and silky."

Directions:
"Massage into feet twice a day - once in the morning after bathing and once again in the evening before bed."

For Best Results:
"Put plain socks (100% cotton) on feet after applying cream. Leave on overnight to seal in moisture."

I have had this for a few months but never really used it more than a handful of times because I never remembered to! However, lately I have been using this quite regularly and I have to say, this stuff is pretty darn amazing. It smells like baby powder - a little strong at first but then fades away to a comfortable scent. The texture is not too thick and a little goes a long way, which is great for me because I hate heavy lotions. The best part is that it doesn't leave my feet feeling greasy at all!

I only remember to apply this at night and it would be a miracle if anyone could get me to wear socks to bed. However, I do notice a difference in the heels of my feet, especially now that it is winter and my skin tends to get much drier.

I have really been loving this and I am glad I have added it to my routine.

Review: NYC New York Color IndividualEyes Custom Compact

Hey guys!

This will be the final review from the Influenster Beauty Blogger VoxBox 2012. I received the NYC IndividualEyes Custom Compact in Dark Shadows.

Product Information:
"Straight from the city that never sleeps, NYC New York Color offers products with uptown style at down-to-earth prices, from $.99 - $4.99. The energy, style, and color of New York City shines through the wide range of shades, textures and innovative products. NYC always delivers the most on-trend products & shades hot off the runway!

NYC New York Color's all-in-one compact gives you everything you need for a complete eye look: primer, illuminator, applicator and complementing shadows. With four vibrant colors designed for your eye color, you can create a look as individual as you are!"

My swatches suck!

The highlighter shadow (farthest to the left) is my favorite from this compact and I have been using this as my main inner corner highlight ever since I received this.
The second and third shadows (all over lid and crease/contour) are a bit too powdery for my liking.
You can see that the darkest shadow (2nd crease/contour and shade farthest to the right in both photos above) is the least opaque out of all the shades.

The primer is okay but I wouldn't use it if I am going to be wearing eyeshadow for more than a few hours.

The illuminator (swatched above) is a bit too sparkly for my liking but if you are into that this can be used as a cheek highlight or inner corner highlight.

I have definitely been liking this compact and for the price you cannot go wrong!

Don't forget to enter my OPI 007 Skyfall mini nail polish set giveaway :)

*I received this compact in the Influenster Beauty Bloggers VoxBox 2012.

Review: Kiss Ever Pro Lash Starter Kit

Hey guys!

If you read this post, you would know I received this Kiss Ever Pro Lash Starter Kit in the Influenster Beauty Bloggers VoxBox.

Product information:
"Ever tried applying eyelashes but became frustrated when they didn’t position correctly? Only to remove them and start over? Kiss Ever PRO Lash Starter Kit provides everything you need for amazing lashes instantly! Each kit includes 1 pair of Eyelashes, 1 3g Adhesive, and 1 PRO Lash Applicator. The new PRO Lash Applicator allows for a flawless application every time! Kiss lashes come in a variety of styles that are perfect for everything from day wear to a formal evening event.

To Use: Simply apply glue to the lash band and let set for 30-60 seconds for adhesive to become slightly clear and tacky. Using the PRO Lash Applicator, apply lashes along the natural lash line. Hold, allowing adhesive to dry completely. Do the same to the second eyelash. Both lashes have a perfect fit!

Kiss Ever PRO Lash Starter Kit retails for $4.99 and are available at Walgreens stores nationwide. For more information and how-to videos, visit EverEZlashes.com."

This kit is perfect for someone learning how to use false lashes. The best thing about it is that it is very affordable at just $4.99. What threw me off a little is that these lashes are 100% human hair. It weirded me out a bit but that is exactly why these lashes look so natural in texture and blend in with your own lashes.

If you are looking to add something bold to your look for the holidays or for a special occasion, you should definitely try these out.

*Received these lashes to review from the Influenster Beauty Bloggers VoxBox.

Influenster Love VoxBox Item: Kiss Nail Dress in Bodysuit

I was lucky enough to receive the Love VoxBox from Influenster, which was filled with chocolate, tea, a sugar substitute, a razor and a set of Kiss Nail Dress.

The pattern of Kiss Nail Dress (Retail Value: $6.99) that I received was Bodysuit (KDS14). Firstly, I love the packaging. It is small enough to just throw in a bag on the go. They have tons of other different designs as well.

The package includes two sheets of nail strips and a double sided file. Now here is my issue. The packaging says that it includes 28 strips in 14 sizes. I have counted this a million times and thought I was crazy but there are only 22 strips. Can someone who has tried these before please explain this to me lol!

The strips are really simple to apply. Just peel off, stick on and file off the excess. Many of the strips didn't fit my nails perfectly but the design was cute so I didn't mind too much.

I am not sure if I would buy these again. Maybe if they make more sizes! If you have reviewed these, please leave a link below because I would love to read what you thought!

Chocomize.com Review

"Chocolate exactly the way you want it. No matter how unusual. This is the innovative idea behind the start-up company Chocomize." - Chocomize.com

This post is going to be different from the usual stuff I post on here, but WHO CARES?! IT'S CHOCOLATE. Not just any chocolate, if I may add.

Chocomize.com is an online company in which you can customize chocolate bars. There are tons of different ingredients you can add to spruce up a normal chocolate bar (dark, milk and white). From dried fruit to candy to nuts and even bacon, the possibilities are endless. If you need some suggestions on what to get, there is a page of their popular chocolate bars or you can do what I did, and order an "I Feel Lucky" bar, which is a randomized chocolate bar.

If you "Like" me on Facebook, you may have seen the post I shared from the Chocomize Facebook page, in which they were offering a 30% off your entire order for 3 days for reaching 30,000 fans on Facebook. As I have been stalking the Chocomize website for a few months now, I took this as an opportunity to finally place an order.

I decided to get 5 "I Feel Lucky" bars for my family and I. These bars are actually a great value at $3.95 each because a plain chocolate bar without any added ingredients is $3.95. For the 5 chocolate bars plus shipping and tax (minus 30% off) my total was $18.82. I ordered on a Friday and received my package on the Monday :)

Here are the descriptions of the "I Feel Lucky" bars I received, my thoughts and the retail value if I would have customized the same exact bar myself.

1) Milk Chocolate bar with king-sized Kit Kat pieces and chocolate covered cookie dough pieces. This bar is soooooo delicious. The flavors really compliment each other. Plus, I love cookie dough AND Kit Kats! Their milk chocolate is very rich and satisfying. I have never been much of a chocolate eater but this chocolate is definitely better than your normal Hershey's chocolate bar. (Retail Value: $5.45)

2) Milk Chocolate bar with M&M's, toffee and caramel pieces. This is another bar that tastes amazing. It is a bit too sweet for me but that is actually good so I can eat it in moderation haha.  (Retail Value: $6.40)

3) Milk Chocolate bar with Reese's Pieces, Kit Kat pieces and peanut butter drops. I gave this one to my mom so I didn't personally taste it but do I really need to? All those peanut butter and milk chocolate flavors really compliment each other. (Retail Value: $6.30)

4) White Chocolate bar with Teddy Grahams and yogurt pretzels. Can someone pinch me? Their white chocolate is AMAZING! (Retail Value: $5.65)

5) Milk Chocolate with M&M's and pretzels. I gave this bar to two little kids. This is perfect for the them! The saltiness of the pretzel works well with the sweetness of the chocolate. (Retail Value: $5.35)

I was surprised I ended up with such great "I Feel Lucky" bars. I recommend Chocomize.com and encourage you to check out their website and Facebook page. They really do reach out to their fans on their Facebook page and they have wonderful customer service.

Have you ever purchased anything from Chocomize.com? What did you get?

*All items were purchased by me. *eats a piece of chocolate*

Jack Black Intensive Therapy Lip Balm Review

I recently made an order on SkinCareRx.com with a gift card that was provided to me from them. Two of the items I ordered were Jack Black Intensive Therapy Lip Balm in Vanilla & Lavender and Grapefruit & Ginger.

Here are the descriptions from SkinCareRx.com:

  • "Leave the dryness behind with Jack Black Intense Therapy Lip Balm SPF 25 - Vanilla & Lavender. Enriched with superior skin conditioners and antioxidants, this emollient balm soothes and relieves dry, chapped, irritated lips. Unlike waxy sticks, it penetrates quickly to provide instant relief. Offers broad-spectrum sun protection with an SPF of 25; also guards against windburn and temperature extremes. Contains Vanilla and Lavender to soothe and heal. Fragrance-free. Colorant-free. Dermatologist tested."
  • " Enriched with superior skin conditioners and antioxidants, this Jack Black Intense Therapy Lip Balm SPF 25 - Grapefruit & Ginger soothes and relieves dry, chapped, irritated lips. Unlike waxy sticks, it penetrates quickly to provide instant relief. Offers broad-spectrum sun protection with an SPF of 25; also guards against windburn and temperature extremes. Contains Grapefruit and Ginger for a fresh, tangy citrus flavor. Fragrance-free. Colorant-free. Dermatologist tested."

After reading some great reviews about these lip balms all over the internet, I knew I had to order these and try them out. If there is one "beauty" product I could not live without, it would definitely be lip balm. It is a necessity in terms of my daily life!

Price: $7.50 USD
Size: .25 oz

Scent: Jack Black Intensive Therapy Lip Balm in Vanilla & Lavender has a stronger lavender presence than vanilla. Jack Black Intensive Therapy Lip Balm in Grapefruit and Ginger has a stronger grapefruit presence than ginger. Both lip balm scents are not over powering. They are actually quite pleasant!

Flavor: None that I can detect.

Conclusion: These lip balms are super moisturizing and are definitely on my repurchase list. They are more on the vaseline like consistency but not as greasy. These also do not leave my lips feeling waxy, as many lip balms tend to do. I notice that these have long lasting moisturizing effects and it is doing wonders for me, especially since it is the winter and my lips tend to get dry more often. I kept the Grapefruit and Ginger lip balm for myself and gave the Vanilla and Lavender to my boyfriend, who is another lover of lip balms and can't stop raving about it!

Jack Black Intensive Therapy Lip Balm also comes in Black Tea & Blackberry, Lemon and Mint & Shea Butter.

Pretty Addictions Mineral Cosmetics Review: Not Coming Home Alone Tonight

Pretty Addictions Mineral Cosmetics is an online makeup store created by Kassandra of Pretty Addictions Blog. Sounds familiar? Well, I featured Kassandra in a Spotlight post a couple months ago, which you can read here.

Pretty Addictions Mineral Cosmetics offers a Blogger/YouTube/Promoter Special of $18.75 worth of products for $12 (and a mini package of $6.75 worth of products for $5). There were 3 different collections available for this promotion and I chose "Not Coming Home Alone Tonight". I received a full sized blush, a 10g jar of eyeshadow, 5g jar of eyeshadow, a clamshell sample and a bag sample.

I also purchased another 10g jar eyeshadow and because I spent over $15, I received a 5g jar of the eyeshadow of the week FOR FREE!

...and this deal wasn't good enough, SHIPPING IS ONLY $2! My whole order totaled to about $20.

All photos are clickable. Click for a closer look!

The Big "O" is a shimmery peach blush. It comes in a 20g jar (Retail Value: $7.50), which has a sifter. It applies smoothly but I have to be very careful to apply lightly because the shimmer can be a little too much for me.

Silver Screen is a silver shimmer eyeshadow. I received this eyeshadow in a 10g jar (Retail Value: $5.50). The color payoff is great!

Wicked is a deep purple eyeshadow with some shimmer. I received this eyeshadow in a 5g jar (Retail Value: $3.50). This is a great crease color.

Locked and Loaded is a gunmetal grey eyeshadow with irridescent glitter that I received in a clamshell sample (Retail Value: $1.25). This is another great crease color but I apply this lightly so I don't end up looking like a racoon haha!

Pina Colada is a white shimmer eyeshadow that I love using in the inner corners of my eyes and as a highlight. Unfortunately, Pretty Addictions no longer sells bag samples so I cannot give you the Retail Value, but this does come in clamshell sample size, 5g jar and 10g jar.

Now here is the eyeshadow I purchased (seperate price from the Blogger Package):

25 Karat Gold is a straight up gold eyeshadow that I am SO IN LOVE WITH. Honestly, I don't think I will ever love another eyeshadow as much as I love this one. The color payoff is AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING, I kid you not! I mean, the swatch above is only one light swipe from the eyeshadow. I purchased the 10g jar (Retail Value: $6) because this is a Limited Edition eyeshadow so I did not want to take a chance only buying the 5g (because I knew I was going to love it before I even bought it!).

Free Eyeshadow of the Week (for spending over $15):

Vintage Doll is a light, rusty pink with irredescent glitter. I received a 5g jar (Retail Value: $3.50). This is a beautiful, soft pink eyeshadow that would also look great on the cheeks!

Overall, I really love Pretty Addictions Mineral Cosmetics company. Trust me - I placed another order a week after purchasing this one! Kassandra provides awesome customer service and great deals.

Kassandra regularly hosts contests and holds sales. The best place to find out is by "Liking" Pretty Addictions Facebook page and following the Twitter page.

Review: Ecotools Bamboo Eye Brush Set

I have a confession to make. My love for nail polish is now sharing that spot with a new found love for makeup. Don't worry though - nail polish will always hold a special place in my heart! lol :)

I recently purchased this Ecotools Bamboo Eye Brush Set from Amazon.com. It was $8.70, which included tax and this purchase qualified for free shipping because I am a Amazon Prime member.

Here is the product description from Amazon.com:

I LOVE LOVE LOVE how environmentally friendly this company is. Plus, for the price you cannot go wrong!

The length of the handles are about 3 inches. They aren't long, but if you are like me and need to get up close in the mirror, these are the perfect length.

I would definitely recommend this set!

Review and Giveaway: Prefense Hand Sanitizer

Sponsored by Tomoson.com

As many of you nail and hand product lovers may know, it is important to keep your hands clean and smooth. I was sent a 1.5 fl oz bottle of Prefense Hand Sanitizer to review for you all. This brand claims to "smooth, soften and protect" your hands! The brochure included stated that Prefense Hand Sanitizer "sanitizes skin and nails on contact". Now isn't that a wonderful thing to hear (especially if you are a nail enthusiast)?

The bottle states that just one application can protect your hand through 10 hand washings or up to 24 hours.

Compared to other hand sanitizers, I did find that Prefense Hand Sanitizer did not leave my hands feeling greasy, as many other brands tend to do.

As this product is alcohol free, it does not give off that horrible alcohol scent that is found in almost every hand sanitizer I have ever used. The scent of Prefense Hand Sanitizer is actually quite pleasant.

Overall, my experience with using Prefense Hand Sanitizer is a good one. I would definitely recommend this to adults and children alike (it is non-toxic!).

You can purchase Prefense products here. You can also find Prefense on Amazon.com.

Giveaway:
Prefense is giving away a 8 fl oz bottle of Prefense Hand Sanitizer to one lucky reader of TheVEROblog! Compared to the 1.5 fl oz bottle that offers 120 applications, the 8 fl oz bottle offers 640 applications!

Knotty Wine

Hey all.

Above is a manicure using China Glaze Knotty and Omega Labs Nail Art Striper Brush in Burgundy Wine, that were sent to me from NaildeRoyale.com, which I mentioned here. I also L.A Colors Nail Art Brush in White on the accent nail.

China Glaze Knotty is a tan colored nail polish with scattered holographic flecks throughout the polish. If I remember correctly, I used three coats of this polish for full opacity.

I absolutely love love love the brush on the Omega Labs Nail Art Striper Brush in Burgundy Wine. It is super thin, which allows for a better use of this polish. The formula is also very nice compared to the thickness of the L.A Colors Nail Art Brushes. I highly recommend this Omega Labs polish!

There are noticeable nicks on this manicure and I have a pretty bad cut by my cuticle on my ring finger, which I tried to cover up as best as I could in these pictures!

Spotlight: NaildeRoyale.com

Recently, I was contacted by a rep from NaildeRoyale.com, a website that sells discounted and wholesale nail supplies. This includes many name brand nail polishes (China Glaze, OPI, Zoya, Orly), nail art items and tools!

I was sent a few items as a preview of their selection.

Omega Labs Nail Art Striper Brush in Burgundy Wine ($2.99 USD) and China Glaze Knotty ($3.50 USD)

Nail art stars by isis: Summer Field ($2.99 USD) and Daydream ($2.99 USD)

NaildeRoyale.com has such a great selection of products and wonderful customer service. The prices DEFINITELY aren't bad either.

Check it out - you never know if you might find that nail polish you have been lemming!

(I will be reviewing the products themselves in my next post!)

*closed* Let's Get Clean: Yester Year Soap Review and Giveaway

Sponsored by Tomoson.com

Hey all! Today I have a review on some soaps from Yester Year Soap Company.

Here is a little info on Yester Year Soaps:

"Our soaps are made from certified organic vegetable oils, scented with pure essential oils from plant extracts and colored with organic herbs. We use no synthetic fragrances, colorants or preservatives in any of our soap products. The result is a gentle bar suitable for all skin types, even for those with sensitive skin."

Packaging: The items came packaged very uniquely! I received the items in a flat rate box which included a brochure, the soaps wrapped in paper sitting on a pile of straw. Very simple and elegant!

Each soap comes wrapped in plastic (not fully) and includes a card with the scent and ingredients.

Cucumber Lavender:
This soap smells very fresh and has a great lavender scent. I do not really smell a separate cucumber scent though. This soap is very nice and makes you feel a little bit more awake when you step out the shower!

Vanilla Strawberry:
MY FAVORITE! I absolutely love love love love love the scent of this soap! It definitely has a nice blend of vanilla and strawberry scent. DELICIOUS! I could use this soap everyday for the rest of my life.

Cinnamon Latte:
This soap smells strongly of cinnamon. Although I am not much of a fan of this one, if you like spicy scents you very may well love this one! I believe there are actual bits of cinnamon suspended in this soap as well to give you a little exfoliation!

Watercress & Aloe:
This soap is a very basic, fresh scented soap. If you like floral and fresh scents you will love this one!

All the soaps lathered very well and did not dry out my skin as it usual does with regular drugstore soap. If you have not yet tried any kind of natural handmade soap, give Yester Year Soap a try! They have many different soap scents of which you can order online!

Giveaway:
One Winner will receive 2 bars of soap from Yester Year Soap Company!

Mandatory:
*Why would you like to try a natural handmade soap? or If you already use natural handmade soap, why do you like it?
*Leave a email address in which I can contact you!
