I received my Maybelline Matte Maker in the mail today (which I bought off of Ebay). I will be doing a review soon!

NAIL ART: A LITTLE BIT OF ART
Free-hand manicure. It looks bubble-y and bumpy, but at least this time I wanted it to be that way! To get it that way, I applied Nailene's ACRYLIC STRONG top coat while my nail polish was still wet. I don't quite know why this particular top coat does that to my manicure when I apply it! *shrugs*
There is some wear visible on the tip of the middle finger and the corner of the thumb. OH WELL!!

QUESTION OF THE WEEK: FOOD
This question of the week is a little late but better late than never, right?
What is your favorite food and why?
I know, I know. This is such a generic question, but why not?
My favorite food would have to be french fries. It is such a simple food that you can top with just about anything. I absolutely LOVE seasoned fries!
You can also leave any questions to me on this post and I will answer them. Plus, I can always be contacted at dorkifiiedvero@gmail.com.

SPOTLIGHT: KINA GRANNIS
Image via Wikipedia
On top of everything else in this blog, I will sometimes do a "spotlight" on a person that I feel should be recognized or someone that I find interesting. This can be anyone: musicians, actors, activists or just an everyday person with a great story.
Today's spotlight is on singer/songwriter Kina Grannis.
This 24 year old singer from Los Angeles, California had released three independent albums by 2006: Sincerely, Me; One More in the Attic and In Memory of the Singing Bridge.
Grannis' popularity began to rise from her YouTube channel, which she began on November 14, 2007. Since then, her channel has recieved over 3.7 million views and her total upload views surpass 43 million.
In 2008, Kina Grannis entered the Doritos® Crash the Super Bowl contest. Grannis was the winner and her video for "Message from Your Heart" aired during that year's Super Bowl game. This launched her career and she was soon signed to Interscope Records.
Kina Grannis left Interscope Records in 2009 and has indepedently released her 4th album "Stairwells" in February 2010, which features "Message from Your Heart" and her single "Valentine".
My Opinion:
My favorite videos of hers, besides her music related videos, are the ones in which she recognizes her fans. She records videos showing the things that are sent to her and you can truely see that she is loved by her fans. Her appreciation for her fans is incredible and I hope to see more from her in the future.
Check out her YouTube channel and her website (linked above) for more on Kina Grannis.
EDIT:
Kina Grannis is on Twitter! Send her a tweet!

NAIL ART: INDEPENDENCE
This is a water marbling design that I did for July 4th. I wasn't happy with the way the left hand turned out (pictured above).
I absolutely loved the right hand design. It came out looking abstract rather than the typical marble look that I see often (like the thumb nail on the picture on the far right).
Polishes:
-Kiss Colors (KP009 True Red)
-Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear (21 White Out)
-Loreal Jet-Set Shine Limited Edition (940 Rhythm and Blue)

NAIL ART: SPLIT PERSONALITIES
This is another manicure I've done recently. I used a blue nail polish my Delia*s and a green polish by Jordache Studio Looks. I've had these polishes for a very long time and no longer have the labels for them ;[ so I can't tell you the color names but I posted a picture a picture above of the bottles. I used Sally Hansen's Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear in White Out for the dots on the thumb and ring finger and then topped it off with two coats of top coat.
EDIT:
Daintydarlingdigits.blogspot.com is having a giveaway!! Click this link to see her post and to enter in to win one of three packages.

INTRO TOPIC: NAIL POLISH AND NAIL ART
So one of the things I have grown to like lately is nail polish and nail art. Its on the road to becoming an obsession though. As a working student though, it can be an expensive habit and lately I've just been using the items that I have.
This is a recent design I've done using Milani's Hi-tech. On the ring finger I did a marble design using Maybelline Express Finish (105- Barely Pink) and Maybelline foreverstrong (60- Wonder Melon).
I need to stop taking pictures via my Blackberry and actually start using my digital camera because this does not show the intensity of Milani's Hi-tech 3D Holographic nail polish. It truely is a vibrant color and I plan on buying more Milani nail polishes soon!
I also have a habit of not "cleaning up" my manicure before taking pictures LOL
WELCOME!
As this is my first blog post I'd like to give you all out there a little bit more info about me. This is my first "real" blog. Well, I should say second because I had a Xanga account way back when that was popular. Then I did the whole Myspace gig and have now gone onto Facebook and Twitter (for which I will most likely be making an account specifically for this blog).
I live at home with my parents, go to school and have a part-time job at a children's department store. I'm majoring in Psychology and minoring in Sociology. I was originally going to school for business but learned that I have NO interest in that, for now. I say "for now" because in the future I may go back to it for other endeavors. For psychology, I'm aiming more towards child psych and counseling. I am now also becoming interested in social media, so hopefully this blog will give me some experience and a push forward.
Now, on to more interesting stuff.
This blog will definitely include a variety of topics. I will try to keep them short because I for one, do not like to read lengthy blog posts. Straight to the point with a some oppinion thrown in, thats what I like. I don't want to bore any future readers I might have!
I'll start with a series that I'll call "Intro Topics" in which I will so sample posts of topics that I will cover in this blog. But like I said, this blog will be very random, so topics will be ever changing. ;]
